Tasks You Will Be Expected To Perform  

Call enquiries – You will be the first point of call for prospective clients interested in our services. You will need to provide them with all the information they will require in order to take the positive step and join our fitness facility. You will have to answer any questions they may have and help problem-solve any issues or concerns. 

Face-to-face meeting with prospective clients – You will be face of our business for prospective drop in clients. Showing them the facilities, programs and training available to them. As well as explaining all the various membership options. 

Tracking enquiries – A large proportion of the potential clients will need to be contacted more than once before they commit. It will be your responsibility to track these enquiries. To do the call-backs and follow-ups needed to convert potential clients into actual clients. 

Maintaining relationships with existing clients – Attracting new clients is only part of the puzzle, as keeping clients in the fitness industry is almost as challenging. As such, you will have a role in maintaining relationships with existing clients. Ensuring they are kept up-to-date with the latest promotions and add-on packages, to ensure that their membership is maintained. 

Working with the database management system – You will need to become familiar with our database management system and able to add new and perspective clients to the system. You will also need to be able to rapidly extract data from the system. 

Other gym instructor duties – There will be other tasks that will be directed by me or our office manager, these will vary from week-to-week. 

Required Skills  

Good communication skills - You will be the first impression potential clients have of my business. So must be comfortable and confident when it comes to conversing in-person and over the phone. 

My clients are very important to me, so it is imperative that you conduct yourself professionally and positively at all times. I will teach you everything you need to know about my business and the fitness industry. So to me, your prior knowledge about the fitness industry is less important than the way you conduct yourself and your ability to communicate. 

Personality and people skills – You need to LOVE working with people – that’s a must! As it is essential that you both fit into our dynamic and outgoing team, as well as are able to interact on a daily basis with our wide ranging clientele base. To do this you need to be positive, outgoing, energised and always willing to go above and beyond to ensure our clients get the best possible service. 

Problem solving capabilities – One of the biggest challenges in the fitness industry is getting the clients initially through the door. It is a competitive industry, with clients finding it hard to distinguish between professional outfits and cowboys posing as fitness professionals. So you need to be able to allay their concerns and find solutions to any potential issues they might have. 

Customer service skills - The customer is always right. You will need to be able to listen to their needs and help identify solutions that suit their needs and communicate these options to them.

In the fitness industry performance is everything and sales is NO different.
